Fine Art Printmaker
Bio
Hi! My artistic self is finally being given the attention I have wanted to dedicate to it, but never before now found the time or energy. As a biology teacher, I drew elaborate food webs on the board to which my impressed, but horrified students asked, "Do we have to copy this, Miss?" To their relief, I told them no, that the drawings were really for my enjoyment, but that they were responsible for the concepts and information! I had to find a way to incorporate making art and expressing enthusiastically more deep concern for the environment. When I got the opportunity to explore my artistic self, I found out that I could tap into the science part of my brain and teach through the medium of printmaking. The processes appeal to the scientist in me, and the research and scholarship I put into the images satisfies the academic in me.
